Looks like Global Warming has really taken it's toll on the East Coast
today. I hope the liberals at large have lots of fun shoveling this
Gloabl Warming trend. Broke records in NYCity's Central Park and closed
all the major airports. Heard Boston got more of this Global Warming !
I'll take the 10 degree above normal Januarary we had. Oh sorry
forgot, Global Warming caused this blizzard shutting down the liberal
bastion of the US. Keep Shoveling Libs, keep shoveling....

No, the blizzard was a government experiment on the east coast population.
If you take a snow sample to a lab, they will find an unusual substance.
Global warming will resume in a week as scheduled.

He shot a lawyer, guess he's gonna get rid of them first. NICE!

  5. As the ocean temperature increases, and there is still a residue of ice in
the far north to provide a cold sink, the intensity of storms will increase
due to the greater global temperature-difference energy available.

Once the polar icecaps melt however, we will be able to enjoy our new
    tropical resorts in Wisconsin.

  6. The government was gonna be shut down tomorrow for Prez day anyway, so no
    loss to the country.

As for VP shooting a lawyer, I can envision the next Saturday Night Live
skit... "so who wants to go quail hunting?" and the room clears. And Dan
    Quail goes into hiding

  7. Global warming is a widely disputed theory. Currently, most learned folks
come down on the side that it is indeed true. Then, the actual causes of it
divides them (the believers) even more.

Your post is mere anecdotal information (just a tiny drop in a huge bucket).

Global warming discussed here will not yield any useful conclusion. There
are few here who really understand the phenomenon, at any significant level
    (I include myself).

  8. very true, no infomation that proves clobal warming is valid, e.g

The warming isn't very disputed. It is the cause that is being argued
    about these days.

We also don't all understand the biology of bird flu or the chemstry of
chemical weapons, nor the physics of atomic ones. On each of these we
have concluded that it is best to "play it safe".

Looks like Global Warming has really taken it's toll on the East Coast
The blizzard was caused by a huge moisture mass blowing up from the
*south* being hit sidewise by a cold air stream dip coming from the
north and west. January and February in the middle Atlantic states have
been like Spring weather so far. Most of the snow was melted off by midday.

    'Global Warming' is a misnomer.

'Climate change' is more accurate. Despite overall temps rising this
doesn't prevent icy temps sometimes as well.

Anyway - what's so surprising about snow in winter ?

    In the USA only.

    Very true.

Even the US contingent that say it's *not* due to human activity don't dismiss
the effect of CO2 in the atmosphere though AFAIK. They simply dispute how much
    an influence it is.

The sane conclusion therefore is to limit CO2 ( and other greenhouse gas )
emissions since it can at worst do no harm to do so !

We don't care about elsewhere ;-)

From what I can observe it looks to me like the warming phase has
already happened and we're now heading into the cold phase of the
    cycle.

New England and "over there" is going to get nasty.

Nah, you've been reading the leftist NY (Pinko) Times and the Bean-Town
(what was that smell) GLOBE again. No snow at all here. ...not one flake.

  17. This was nothing, just a regular snow storm. A mear foot east of the city.
    Nothing compared to 78'

So I take it you never heard the thud or whiz by the ear before ?

  19. That storm that hit the East coast was from Africa - across the tropics (Normal)
and then it hooked west of Mexico and started a retrograde in a North East direction.
Storms like this have been coming through Texas and hitting the East coast for
decades. Texas gets some of the best rain off the Mexican Desert during winter. The
Summer time is rain time for most of Texas - I get rain every month - but not much
this last year, but has returned to normal the last couple of months.

  20. I have seen "global warming" survive the "Blizzard of 1996" that
officially dumped slightly over 30 inches onto Philadelphia - whose
previous record since 1875 was 22.3 inches (set in 1983).

And I somewhat remember Boston breaking a snowfall record last winter...
They had a storm to match or slightly outdo two 1977 ones that then set
new single-storm snowfall records in Boston!

And how about that "Blizzard of 1993" - some locations hit by that one
had records broken, including a new record of 10 inches in Birmingham
and Syracuse NY breaking its previous record set by the "Great Blizzard of
    1888".

Looks like some recent record-big blizzards did not stop the world from
having its hottest year on record as a continuation of a recent-decades
upward trend, and less lignificantly the USA from having its hottest
January on record - should one more blizzard make much difference?
