what is magnitude v/v and magnitude db and how do they relate to voltage range

With respect to filters or amplifiers :

1) We have Vin and Vout. Relationship between them is Vout = G x Vin.
or G = Vout / Vin (units are V / V). Eg. G is dimensionless. So if we have
Vout = 1V for Vin = .01V we have a G of 1 (V) / .01 (V) or 100 V/V or just
100.

2) db is G (decibels) = 20 x log (Vout / Vin).

Regards, Dana.

I understand a bit more now thank you

I would like
frequencies to start from 45 Hz, to 16kHz here's a list:

  1. 45 Hz
  2. 64 Hz
  3. 91 Hz
  4. 128 Hz
  5. 181 Hz
  6. 256 Hz
  7. 362 Hz
  8. 512 Hz
  9. 724 Hz
  10. 1024 Hz
  11. 1448 Hz
  12. 2048 Hz
  13. 2896 Hz
  14. 4096 Hz
  15. 5792 Hz
  16. 8192 Hz
  17. 11585 Hz
  18. 16384 Hz
These frequencies still follow a logarithmic progression and cover the range from 45 Hz to 16 kHz.

Hello,

The shown part is a MUX.
It works like a signal selector.

not sure I understand what are the pinout is it in a dip package? I was wanting to use the LM3914 and its analog voltage input

Hello,

The second part , the LT6023 is a dual opamp.
Search for the datasheet for more info.

ok so I'm new to this, does the op amp come in dip chip format?

Hello,

It is not in DIP format.
It is a form of SMD chip.

so would 3 of these dual op amp make 2 filters? can you get dip form because smd is a bit small? thanks

Are there some of these dual op-amps in dip package's of the same type with the same spec and would it take 3 of them to make 2 filters?

We are not only offering you solutions we are offering others whose search on the site for solutions ( information)
What you are doing is bit by bit trying to understand the technology the science the math, you're looking for a academic electronic course. That is beyond the scope of websites such as these. If you get stuck on a particular problem then you're in the right place. You must already know the basics and you do not; I do not mean that in a bad way. You're looking for an academic course in electronic this is not the place to do that.

Now. https://www.newark.com/?&CMP=KNC-GU...lXop7FCHk9TP4LcHuHPAKw2FQE6vZ6UBoCrFgQAvD_BwE

Do a "Parametric search" which is a guided search or a filtered search. You select the parameters (specifications).
And if you get stuck - ask-. This is only my opinion.
You are a bright individual and you deserve a comprehensive formal education you need a teacher.
There I said it...
Nobody else would: They don't have the cojones. And don't ask what cojones are.

Just muddling my way through, do you recon you could provide that spectrum analyzer still "on a silver platter!" Iwould be highly greatfull, to be honest I'm looking for answers to make my projects and picking stuff up on the way I have a course on udemy and a GCSE level B in electronics and an advanced diploma level 3 in mechanica/electrical engineering under my belt, I'd be the first to say that I am looking for solutions step by step, I learn through doing, I'm good at soldering and have an abundance of parts I am taking inventory list tomorrow!

I could really do with it and also if you provide the information I need then it might help someone else looking for the same answers

I'm just here to make my dancing lights project my friend

if it doesn't work I can critique it for you

You're going to different route. Which is far superior than mine. mine in strictly analog. I know you're learning by doing it.That's why it's breaking my heart. I'm not retired, even if I was it wouldn't really have the time to do this for you. And you're making me feel bad I feel like such a failure and I haven't done anything for you except criticize and even that wasn't really constructive.
So I'm just going to stop. And I'm not sorry.
I do not have the capability to help you okay!
I'm not that smart...

fair enough but if you can shed light on the way you might go about it, that would still be of help, if you could do the first few filters 32Hz 45Hz 64Hz I'm sure I could take it from there in designing the further 13 bands myself using the https://tools.analog.com/en/filterwizard/ app to have the peaks reach an output voltage of 12v at the peaks maybe would be an option

I appreciate that you aren't retired but I have all the time in the world literally

anyway thanks for the parts sites

how about you tell me what you do know so I can put some more parts of this "puzzle" together, I think you are smart!
