RF signal strength

Hello. I have my car remote key, and there is strange thing. If PCB is in key fob (original, plastic), car remote work in about 2 metres. If I'm holding PCB in my hand, remote works from 20 metres. Whats is bad here ?

Nothing bad. When holding the PCB in your hand, your body works as an antenna, thus increasing the signal strength compared with the very small antenna on the PCB when in the key fob.

It is odd that it only works at 2m. I have two cars with remotes and they both work at as much as 30m. Holding they high in the air will also increase the operating distance.

You should also check the remote battery.
If it only works for 2m very likely it is weak.
While doing that you can take some good photos and post them.
