okay so i bought a mini projector that said it could be powered from a battery but when i got it it needs 12v 1.5 amps so i got a power bank that can put out 12v but the only one i could find that worked for me was 6 amps so i now need a way of getting it to give me 12v 1.5 amps so it can power the projector i looked it up and it said i need a 8 ohm 100w resister but that seems overkill so i’m just wondering how i can take 12v 6 amps to 12v 1.5 amps

No, you don't.
A power bank rated 12 V / 6 A means that this bank can deliver up to 6 A. It does not mean that it forces 6 A into the projector.
The projector will determine how much current is drawn from the 12 V. Connect the projector directly to the power bank. Without any additional resistor.

Compare this to a lamp socket or an outlet in your household mains installation: The mains supplies 115 V or 230 V, but the current drawn is determined by the load, be it a small lamp or a power hungry heater.

sooo i plugged 12v 6 amps in to the protector and it made a pop and smelt bad so i think it didn’t work the projector is a portaflixx pocket projector and it says input 12v 1.5 amps and my battery is a talent cell yb1208300 but i directly hooked it up and i think i just killed the 80 dollar projector

Hello,

Did you check the polarity of the battery and projector?
When the wrong polarity is connected bad things will happen.

You’re talking in dollars so I assume USA?.
Black is positive and white is neutral. So it appears that you got the polarity wrong?.

yeah you’re right the thing is it’s an all black cord that has a white striped line on it kind of like a road and when i looked it up it said that it was positive so if that’s the issue that’s great but im honestly just curious now why is burnt up the projector

yes usa and the wires are all black and connected but one of them has a white striped like kind of like a road line which i looked up and i’m pretty sure meant that it was negative but it could have still been wrong
