Help, 1 inch lcd graphics displays?

I need some of these for a clients prototype but it can't be bigger than about
1 by 1.5 inches. I don't much care about the number of pixels (beggars can't be
choosers). I can't seem to find any this small with web searches. Anyone know
where some of these can be had? I'm willing to work with controller mounted
modules or just the LCD. Even a product you know of that I could strip the LCD
out of and reverse engineer the interface?

Thanks

Rocky

Perhaps you can use a nokia 3310 lcd. Try Google 'nokia 3310 lcd'.

Maybe check out who made the LCD's for view finders in older camcorders.
They were pretty tiny.

They are also cheap, even in singles.

Hi Rocky,

Another source are the little handheld gaming devices you can buy at
airport shops, to help people waste away time on long flights. My wife
had one called Yahtzee which I believe is a virtual dice rolling game.
The screen was about 1" by 1.5". These devices are roughly the size of
cell phones, just more flat. And a whole lot cheaper if you want to
scavenge the displays.

Check Walmart, the section where the kids hang out.

Thanks again for all the help, I think we are going to use the Nokia display
but the others are good choices too, and I never would have found any of them
without your help.

Look closer -- those games have custom displays with "preprinted"
pictures that are just turned on and off.

Apparently the low-resolution displays are fairly low-tech and rather
inexpensive to have made up -- I have no idea about actual prices vs.
volume break points, but I learned this looking at a Xilinx CPLD demo
board that had a cool display that was done by sequencing a custom LCD.

IIRC, NKK makes a line of LCD pushbuttons about this size (the button
face is a graphic LCD).

Rocky,

Check out http://www.nkksmartswitch.com.

They can be a pain to get samples from, and in small quanities they
are not cheap. But they look very nice.

If you like these, drop me a line. I have some C code that lets a PIC
drive one.

Hi Rocky,

Look at the little electronic games such as Yahtzee, Poker etc. They are
often sold at airport stores but I believe I have also seen them in the
kids section of stores such as Walmart. These are very cheap and have
small graphics LCD in them. Usually no backlighting though.
