Ferguson ICC6 Query

Hi all

I am presently battling with a Ferguson/Telefunken ICC6 chassis which
appears, to me anyway, to be stuck in "hotel mode." I have no tuning menu
available as well as very low maximum volume on the audio. The geniuses at
the local South African Telefunken agents don't seem to know what I'm
talking about and appear to have great difficulty understanding exactly what
"hotel mode" is let alone whether the set has such a setting or not. Is it
me being stupid or them?

Any help/ideas welcomed.

PS. Incedentally, the processor type in this particular chassis is a
SGS/Thomson ST6397.

TIA

Alan Young.

What makes you think it's in hotel or child lock mode ? When you say that
you have audio but no tuning menu, do you actually have a raster ? How did
the set initially present itself and what have you done to it so far ?

The set came from another repairer who had allegedly had the set for some
months without effecting any repairs. We were called in for a "second
opinion" by the insurance company involved.
We have raster and perfect picture and sound on already preset channels.
However, the audio is unable to increase above more than about 1/4 volume
and the preset menu cannot be called up at all. All other menu functions
work ok, such as brightness, audio settings, timer etc.
Thus far we have not done anything other than try obtain the "service" info
as I am convinced the set is merely stuck in hotel mode. Barring this, the
only other conclusion I can reach is that the micro is faulty.

I think you remove the child lock on this chassis by holding the channel
up/down buttons down whilst switching the set on, if not then try switching
off at the mains and wait until the light goes out, then switch on mains
whilst holding standby button on remote for 6 seconds, a red key may be
displayed which can be toggled on or off with +/- buttons on remote.
