Hi All-

I am using a DSC 864 to monitor some non emergency functions. I have
the system working great with a pager, but I want to have it use the
paging feature of my cell phone instead. I have a number to call to
page the cell phone, a different number than my cell number. The
problem is that the cell pager number requires two '#' at the end of
the string, rather than the one '#' that the panel sends. Is there any
way to get the panel to send another '#'???

Thanks! Bob

Matt-

Thanks for the suggestion - I posted the note over there. As a matter
of interest, how did you do it on your 832??

Bob -

I don't remember the exact sequence, basicall I went into programming
mode and filled out the communicator dialing section.

If you download the 832 prog. manual; it lists the steps.

Manual available at:

To enter another "#" sign you would program your phone number as follows:

Section 301 (1st phone number):

While in programming key in [3], [0], [1] then your phone number (example)
[6], [0], [4], [5], [5], [5], [5], [5], [5], [5], followed by [*], [3], [3],
[#] (the "*" sign puts the panel into "HEX" programming mode and the "3's"
are "HEX C's" that simulate the tone the "#" sign makes on your telephone
dialpad.

Please review page 24 of the 5010 manual or page 23 of the installation
manual for the 5020 (version 3.0).

Frank-

Thanks for the help, but I already tried this. I need the extra "#"
after the zone info is sent, the last thing sent before the panel hangs
up, not in the dialing string. If I put the "#" in the dialing string,
it causes my cell phone voice mail to thing that the entry is done and
it hangs up.

Hmmmm... CID would probably do this (or some other DTMF type signal)
although I haven't tried this. You might have to "play around" with the
different codes and tones to achieve what you want... Mark Leuck is our
resident "expert" on programming... :))

Hi Bob, (still haven't used any of that mat yet :)

What do you mean the # that the panel sends?
To use a pager with DSC, I just use pager format and enter the pager number
followed by EEEB pause pause pause * to send..... you might try
followed by EEECEC (C is the #)
