I've recently purchased a house with a Napco 1016e. After paying the
previous alarm company to default the panel, I'm now ready to download the
program using the PCD2000 software. When attempting to download, the panel
and PC connects, but I don't seem to be able to get any further. I'm using
a Hayes 1200 internal modem.

Here is are the responses as indicated in PCD2000 software as the panel and
PC connect:

Requesting access
Sending Event
Receiving: 0
Sending Event
Restoring Panel
Connection Established--Default Code in Panel

When I attempt to download, here are the responses:

Waiting for Panel
Panel did not respond (at this point, the panel has disconnected)

Am I doing something wrong? Is there some minimum information that has to
be programmed by keypad before the download will work? As further
information, the panel is connected to the second phone line at my home.
I'm using the primary number to call the second line with the panel, and I'm
not using a callback number---should I program one into the panel and let it
call back?

Thanks, in advance, for your advice.

When you connect to the panel, keep a phone off the hook on either side to
keep the line open.

If you run into problems contact me and I'll be happy to program the system
for you. There's no charge for the service.

Of course you can't charge for the service. You have no insurance... no
bonding.... and to top it all off, you have a criminal record...

Take a standard phone and plug it into the modem then take phone off the
hook once you connect
