Perhaps it would be useful for blkfrd to Google "Ohms Per Volt". Maybe it'll help him grasp the concepts of what constitutes a practical voltmeter.

If you really insist on doing this I would suggest a circuit with an op amp driving a discrete push-pull stage. The ammeter in series with a 1 Ohm resistor from the push-pull output to ground. You will need dual power supplies. The op amp can be configured with the feedback coming from the push-pull output stage and resistor to set the gain and it will then read 2 * g volts full scale.

Well, that's one way to prevent the meter from being a significant load. ;)
That said, if his basic movement is really 2A, what he wants to do is definitely in the oddball category.

One thing is certain,.. the OP does not grasp the concept of 0 - 2V or 0 - 20V as his direct readout FS options.
