Can you mix power and data through two seperate USB cables?

Hello,

I was wondering if it was possible to have a "Y" cable from two female USB ports to a single male one. And have one carry data and the other power to the same male connection. such as when you have a USB cable going from your phone to your computer, it charges it as well as carries data. Will this work?

As far as I know it is not conform to the USB standard but works in most cases.
