Blind spy cameras

Hi I was wondering if there was some way to 'blind' a spy cam. I have
heard of using 'white noise' to disable a bug or wiretap but I am not
sure if you can do it to a hidden camera. I don't know were it is in
my house but I know that I am under surveillance.(people at school
repeat things that I said at home,in my room, to my self) I have heard
that IRLEDS could blind a camera but you would propably need to know
were it was.

The fact that "people at school" repeat things which you have said to
yourself in the privacy of your own home doesn't necessarily indicate
the presence of an illegal camera, but it could be a simple FM
wireless microphone some of your supposed "mates" have placed there as
a joke. In this case you could try generating a constant tone and see
if you can pick it up on a FM receiver by scanning over the full
bandwidth. Of course if the bug transmitter signal is outside the
normal FM band then you won't have much joy, but it would be worth a
try.

I would not disable it or let on that you found it. Think of all the fun
you can have. Pretending to win the lotto for over 1/4 of a million could
be interesting. Everyone will be your friend. A pretend phone call from
your mom telling you that she just met (fill in hot starlet's name)'s
mother. You mom calls to tell you that (hot starlet name here) wants to
take you on a date. I am sure you can come up with other more inventive
way to get even. Uncle dies and leaves you an original Dino Ferrari is
good. Don't like Ferrari's? Try an original Shelby Cobra. You have to
make it believable. Script it out and practice. Call insurance agents for
quotes on car insurance. An uncle leaving you 5,000 shares of stock in
microsoft is good. Saying he bought it right after the IPO is better.
This requires a bit of homework what with stock splits, dividend re-
investment, etc. to figure out how many millions you now are worth.

Think of all the fun.

Unless they are lip reading from the video this seems more like a
microphone than a camera, or maybe both.

How about a test? Think up something so incredible to say that you
know they are going to repeat it if they hear it but that would be
nearly impossible for anyone to happen to say by coincidence. And
then write down a copy and keep it secret, so you can check later.

I listened to a lecture this summer by someone who claimed that
many of the amazing coincidences that we experience in life are
being now thought to perhaps not be what we think they are.
Instead parts of our brain that we aren't even conscious of are
picking up clues and later poking them up into our consciousness
where we are astonished at what we suddenly see.

In the weeks after the lecture I watched myself say things and
think of things with no apparent cause. When I noticed that I
would quickly think back over the recent past, trying to see if
I could remember anything I might have noticed that would have
been the source. I was surprised that with a little effort I was
able to realize the probable source of some of these.

I'm not dismissing your concern, just trying to think of any other
possible explanation.

Not to mention all the false gossip you could tell your mother about your

thefts...

Aluminum foil. Lots of aluminum foil. Cover every surface to be sure to
get the hole where the camera is looking through.

Just to be sure, wrap yourself in aluminum foil, also.

Well alot of the things they repeat are off the ball things that I say
and do, I am kind of an odd ball so it isn't my imagination. I heard
about using a scanner before. Do you have to modify it at all? I was
thinking of playing some music realy loud and then trying to listen to
it on the scanner but I am not sure what frequiencies I should be
scanning. Will proximity affect this test at all? I would go out and
buy a scanner but I already have one in storage and I don't want to go
buy another $200 dollar scanner.

I would not disable it or let on that you found it. Think of all the fun

This has been going on for too long for me to have any fun with it,
its still a good idea though. I think I will try doing some 'acting'
for the camera/bug.

Huh, thats what my co-workers at the post office told me to do. . .

Yes, well, that is a bit off the ball. You are just going to have to resign
yourself to being the creator of new sayings, such as such classics as:

o 'One swell foop'
o 'Dad, do you want the destructions?' : Christmas morning when assembling a
....

People will repeat these things because they have some value - they are
amusing and appropos. Nothing you can do about it. You are a bit of a
natural born comic.

Try to think about what you are saying - say the words slowly to yourself in
your head before speaking them. It is like typing: s p e l l out the words as
letters in your head as you press the keys and you will not make many typos.

There is no need to get paranoid. And for God's sake don't let other
kids think you are paranoid, they will make a real play on that.

OnT:

Checking for bugs with a radio is called 'howling'. Any old radio
will work: when the radio is tuned to the bug's transmit frequency there
will be feedback loop from the radio's speaker to the mike back to the
radio and out the speaker ... It will be a _real_ howl. As the radio
gets closer to the mike the howling will get a whole lot louder.

Most FM mikes work just outside the FM broadcast band. Find an old
mechanically tuned radio where the tuning goes past the limits, it
should pick it up.

Remember: Your friends can rile you a lot better (and far more
easily) by making you think you are bugged than by bugging you.

I worked in a small town with a bunch of disgruntled union folk abused
by the corporation for years. They warned me people that bug get bugged,
I never did but that didn't stop them from tormenting me for the hell of
it, because every rat-race is stabilized by choosing and beating up a
whipping-boy.

The best thing to do is, if they assholes are worth tolerating, is to
find someone weaker and torment the shit out of them. Give as good as
you get.

Just do a good physical inspection. If anyone is interested in metal
detectors and NLJ's (non-linear junction detectors), perhaps we can
start a yahoo or source-forge project. Commercially, the cost
kilo-bucks, but the parts can be had for under $50 bucks, and could be
very effective for detecting all but the best shielded electronics.

There is also a document on the web somewhere that details the emi put
out by various video cameras, which can be detected (provided they are
operating) by near-field magnetic probes with sensitive amplifiers.

But in the end, its best not to associate with assholes.

I've made emf detectors with nothing more than an LM386, a few discrete
components, and a piece of wire. I had a simple RC hi-pass network on the
front end so line AC wouldn't set it off. Running at full gain, and
sending the rf input into the positive input of the amp, it will go into
self-oscillation. An LED or speaker at the output of the amp will let you
know when you're in the vicinity of an rf field. The amplitude and
ferquency of the sound coming out of the speaker will give you a *very*
rough idea of the type of field you're near. This picks up everything from
electronic watches and digital calculators to cell phones and computers.
Tune the antenna (length) to increase sensitivity/gain for a particular
frequency.

How mean. And I was going to nominate Rich to be the Duck-Bill Platypus

Perhaps its better to face the true God having ignorantly believed in a
false one, than face truth having believed in nothing, shirking
responsibility for risking being wrong in search for the truth.

Another great lesson in politics we can learn in this "mean season". Get
your way by criticizing those in power because they aren't perfect. You
can always find some fault to blame, if you're not responsible for doing
any better.

I'd even take a mere moronic fuckup. There's intentional death and
destruction going on, and GWB seems to be the figurehead. I'm really
saddened that doublethink has got so bad that people can convince
themselves that long-distance murder has anything to do with "defense."

Thanks,

The history of the human race is that of one armed nation taking what
they want from a weaker nation. "The strong do as they will, the weak
suffer what they must".

Our government makes cheap excuses about WMD and such, but its about oil
and military dominance of where oil comes from.

And the reason we peasants are not informed of this fact, is because the
class-structure is based on an aristocracy which keeps its peasants
enslaved with altruistic lies about "freedom", "morality", "human
rights", "God".
