    Vista 20p keypad doesn’t respond

I don't remember exactly when the Vista-20P came out, but I'm pretty sure it was sometime in the mid- 2000s. It sounds like you have an earlier Vista-20 or Vista-20SE, and your KP's address of 31 is correct. I'm afraid I misspoke before: Unless you have two partitions in your system, then...

    Vista 20p keypad doesn’t respond

If your KP's address is 31, AND if you really have a Vista-20P INSTEAD OF an older Vista-20SE or earlier, then that is your problem.: Address 31 on a Keypad makes it "non-addressable", a feature of earlier Panels before the Vista-20P. So assuming you have a V-20P with a KP that worked for...

    Vista 20p keypad doesn’t respond

I worked with a lot of Vista-20P systems over the years, but I've never seen programming a new fob affect the Keypad operation. My best GUESS is that while you were in programming, you may have inadvertently changed something in another field than you needed for the fob. Back to basics, check...

    Aritech CS-250 alarm

"After being on battery all night..." If your system lost AC Power for an entire night, and IF you tried to use it as soon as AC Power was restored, then the results are unpredictable. Your battery was probably very weak in the morning, and was drawing heavily on the Panel's (The CS-270's)...

Travel Plans 2024 - Need some advices!

Regarding your bucket list: Have you seen a full solar eclipse yet? I'm planning to see my 2nd full solar eclipse whose path is along the Eastern U.S. on April 8, this year. I haven't made plans exactly where I'll be, because I won't decide until a few days prior, when I can get reasonably...

    433 MHz Help

It really, REALLY helps us to help you if you would name (make and model #) the equipment you're asking about. I don't know what you're working with when you say "I want to add a 433 MHz signal from a small motion alarm to signal my GSM alarm system." If this is an existing motion sensor (e.g...

    Simple Hall sensor alarm circuit?

You seem to want something to sound when a door is open, and keep sounding until the door is closed, any time, day or night. In the Alarm Industry, we don't call that an "alarm", we call it "annunciation." I would say we call it "chime" except that the chime feature in all alarm panels gives...

    Ultrak MA850

OK, I don't think I ever worked with that particular model, but I worked with 4-zone analyzers that most likely were adjusted the same way. I do remember it had 3 settings that had to be set, for what is simplistically called "sensitivity". I'll see what I can find. No promises, it's been a...

    Ultrak MA850

Peter, I don't have a better answer than the one I gave you almost 5 years ago: That Ultrak module was being used in the late 80's (IINM) and I don't know if the manual for it was even put on the internet, which came in common use years later. However... Today I noticed something that I missed...

Napco MA1008e Ver 2 - Battery Over current protection

I worked with that generation of Napco panels back in the day when it was the state of the art in alarm panels. The MA1008 was a good panel. Unfortunately, alarm panel manufactures, all brands, don't share schematics or give tech support for repairing panels, and it just wasn't/isn't practical...

    Paradox MG5050 - Open Zones

*SIGH*!! This is the first time I recall seeing this thread. Don't know how I missed it when Leon first posted it in 2018. I'd love it if Leon came back on, because what s/he describes puzzles me. For one thing, Leon mentions "changing all the batteries", but doesn't say what batteries s/he...

    restoring old garage door opener-receiver/transmitter

I suspect the "quiet click" you're hearing is the relay in your receiver---the thing that your remotes transmit to. If that's so, then the remotes & receiver are probably working. If you're going to ask us to help troubleshoot, provide us with more info. Does the opener work with the hardwired...

Query about the recharging of a lead acid battery

What do you mean by "...its charge is almost empty"? If you mean its voltage reads at less than 2 Volts, then it might not charge back up again. Sealed lead-acid batteries don't do well when they're used to deep discharge. A circuit using a 12V SLA will typically have a cut-off feature that...

    Help with Digiplex DGP-848 setup

Kenbruce, my apologies for taking so long to respond. It's been a crazy week. First of all, in spite of my 40+ years of experience working with most brands of professional-grade alarm systems, I've never had occasion to work with this brand; so I doubt I could give you the support you need over...

CADDX NX8E system - looking for detailed info on expansion boards

Jim, how did you determine you don't really need the NX320? Usually when there's an auxiliary power supply installed, it's because there are too many auxiliary devices for the Control Panel, the NX8E, to handle. Somewhere on the wiring diagram inside the Control Panel cabinet door, there should...

CADDX NX8E system - looking for detailed info on expansion boards

I have about 40 years experience working with almost all the major brands of professional-grade alarm systems, but by some quirk of fate, I rarely came across this particular brand. Apparently, few dealers in my area used it, although it was a popular brand nationwide. I wouldn't have any qualms...

    Contacts?

I'm not sure what you mean by "...the magnets can be embedded in the switch." (??!) The magnets would need to be set in each ship , with one magnet positioned over each switch in each square of the grid the ship sits on. (Unless I'm envisioning a different layout than you?) I worked with...

Sunbeam Electric Bedspread stopped heating. Anyone know what the element resistance should be?

Can't apply Ohm's Law using the resistance of unpowered heating elements: The resistance of the heating elements increases as soon as current starts flowing and the elements heat up. Much easier to troubleshoot by tracking voltage, as Minder suggested. But I agree with #2 summing it up.

ADEMCO Vista-10SE alarm will not disarm.

Glad to hear it. Just to reiterate, if you haven't changed the Panel battery in 5 years, it's overdue and a weak battery can cause unpredictable problems. That system is at least 15 years old. Kudos to you for keeping it going. That's a good model.

ADEMCO Vista-10SE alarm will not disarm.

Glad you got it disarmed, that means you can work with it to get your Master Code and any Secondary User Codes you want to add. I strongly recommend having _at least_ one extra User Code. You sound like you may have an Installation Manual, but just in case...
