I have an ademco vista 20 with a 6150 keypad. Have had it for about 3
years. In the middle of the night last night, the alarm sounded for
about 15 seconds, then turned off on its own. There was no record of
anything happening on the keypad...in fact it still had the red light
as if it was armed and ready....And nobody called us from the
headquarters. So it's as if nothing happened, but I can't figure out
why the alarm sounded.

Anyone heard of this before or have any ideas what may have caused
this?

A passing emergency vehicle that sounded like your siren?

As the previous poster said, it is possible that your panel TLM setting
(telephone line monitor) is set for "alarm if armed". What this means
is, IF the panel is armed, AND the phone line goes out, the panel will
sound the siren. It won't send anything, just blow the horn (the idea
being I guess that if someone cuts your phone line, the siren will
scare them off).

Ask your installer what the current setting is in your panel.

Thank you all for your help. This sounds like what it may have been.
Perhaps the phone just went out for a few brief seconds for whatever
reason. The first thing I did was turn the phone on and got a dial
tone (but it could have gone out prior to that). I'm trying to get in
touch with the installer and will ask him. Sounds like a good setting
to have...though it sure is a scary way to wake up at 3 in the morning!
