Hello everybody,

I saved a Sony APS-112 power supply from a Sun worksation that
was discarded. It is a robust PSU providing

V1 V2 V3 V4 V5
+3.3V +5.0V +12.0V -12.0V +5SB
90.0A 70.0A 7.0A 0.4A 0.02A

It seems to be in proper condition, but I am not able to start it.

The description of the connectors are provided here
http://www.shrubbery.net/~heas/sun-feh-2_1/Devices/DC_Power/DCPOWER_Sony_1357_660W.html

I tried to start it by connecting pin 1 (POWERON_L) to ground, as for a
PC ATX PSU, but got only the little sound of a relay, but no more power
at the pins.

Do anybody provide help on this matter ?

Thanks

Hi jxlbbb,

Welcome to this forum !

It may happen that the power supply need a minimum load to start.

Thanks Olivier,

This is what I suspect, but what would be the amount of load to test, and on which
output ?

If it happen that someone has a better view than me on this, it may help me not to blow everything with some hazardous tests.
