I am stuck in two ways:

1) In my schematic I cannot connect certain components. Newly added
components will connect, grid??

2)When I try to edit a package or symbol in a library I get a
"package/symbol in use" error.

Thanks for the help

There is a group specifically for EAGLE support: eagle.support.eng.
Questions there seem to get answered in a timely way, by folks who know the
product well.

The news server is: news.cadsoft.de

And these are FAQ, you will find the answers in many older messages.

Don't ever use a grid other than 0.100" in schematics, or things won't
connect. If you did this, then you have to go back to whatever grid you
were using that screwed things up, and position things back on a 0.100"
grid.

"package/symbol in use" error.

Then don't do that.

You can't edit packages or symbols that are already incorporated into
device sets, for obvious reasons.

Good day!

Yup.
When I was an EAGLE noob, this was my 1st sticking point with it as well.
That is the stupidest, most useless error message.
It should say "Package xxxx.pac is being used by Device xxxx.dev"
or "Symbol xxxx.sym is being used by Device xxxx.dev".
Now THAT would tell you something.
I posted that suggestion to the Cadsoft Support Group a year ago
and am waiting to see if it gets implemented.

Richard,
Delete the Symbol or Package from the Device, edit the Symbol or Package,
and Add the Symbol or Package to the Device again.

Thank you for the help. This got me going again. I appreciate the
suggestion to use the Eagle group but our firewall will not allow it.
