I read the thread on the new Toshiba dvd players having no sound and was
able to get some fixed thanks !

This is the new go video single disk dvd silver cased players .. sorry
dont have the model .. but i`m sure there are hundreds of these already
broken .
They just wont read disks . Some of them start a picture with half the
screen black then freeze , they wont play cd`s either .

Anyone found the problem & a fix for these yet ? thanks !

They're cheap DVD players, so it's not hard to figure why they have problems
with longevity.

Usually, this kind of failure requires replacement of the optical pickup, which
isn't worth it in this case.

Have the Go-Video players replaced with something that's decent, preferrably
from Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba, Pioneer, or JVC. - Reinhart

Check capacitors in the power supply, I've seen a ton of bad caps lately,
often they're bulging or get warm in operation.

Thanks . I have not seen any buldging caps in these yet but i guess it
would not hurt to ESR the caps . I have tossed several of these but
have 4 more stacked up now :)

I realise these are pretty junky i`m just trying to get stuff working so
the company can sell it .

I doubt you can get much of a profit from these players. They sell REAL cheap.
The price you'd have to tag on them after you account for labor and parts may
not allow them to be worth considering. - Reinhart

Reinhart:
You are very correct....... any repair bill to allow the shop to break even
would exceed the price WalMart was selling them for the day after
Thanksgiving...... $27.84 each. I think their day after-sale price is
somewhere around $32 or so.
Absolute POS junk.

These are the pieces of crap that whatsherface got trampled over? My
sympathy just dropped a couple of points if her taste in gear is that bad...

Wal-mart should have each and every store location overflown by a B-2 for
bombing practice (of course when the place is unoccupied) - that $#!thole is
ruining our economy with their garbage...
