3d glasses

put this here but have to ask, are there any 3d glasses that go over prescription spectacles? if not is it still simply a case of making one side red other side blue?

The modern ones are either LCD shutters that alternate eyes quickly or 2 lenses polarised in opposite directions.

I believe the former is for TV and the latter for large movie theatres.

But don't take my word for it

2-colour anaglyptic drawings would still be good for visualisations of 3D objects such as buildings or geometric solids though

I'm useless at doing those when it's on a sheet of paper, so I wouldn't stand a chance if it were a movie .

There are autostereoscopic displays which mean you can use a 3d display without glasses... however it relies on eye tracking (expensive) or narrow viewing bands (meaning you need to keep your head in just the right place!).

It's going to be quite a while before these are ready for comfortable home viewing, as it's much more complex than a traditional stereoscopic display.

ok, thank you. I think that the narrow viewing bands technologie is not really comfortable. we will see what future will bring us. maybe a transparent leaf which you can spot on your wall and you'll have a 3D TV ?!

I hear they're under development.

They want to call them Windows, but Microsoft may prevent them from doing that.

It's a joke. (Windows placed in your walls so you can see 3D images of the outside world.)

Naw, the next phase is holographic displays, it'll skip right over all the different 3-D
formats they're trying now.

yeah i doubt we'll see holograms anytime soon, if we do the miss universe contests will get a HEAP more viewers.
also I wanna see what OLED's will do for us, it would be funny if you needed a "green thumb" to keep your tv working lol
