welcome

thx for the warm welcome! :D
It was a while for me since electronics/electric stuff was in foreground, but now it returned, with more time available now. Repairing and/or cleaning old measurement equipment will be one of the first things to do... (Love the old analog stuff  )

Yep, best make sure that all your equipment is in working order before going too far in.

I have a Tek 465B myself, they are a great old scope, the full service manual is available online for free, if you dont have it. following the voltage checking etc flow charts really pays off and makes fixing them relatively easy.

I havent had any experience with the Tek 2213

Hi Dave. Thx. I have the service manuals already. Didn't "dive" into the 465 yet, just checked what happened with the power on (blows a fuse, which makes it a "relatively" easier job, since it is power supply related. The 2213 is tougher though since it doesn't trigger (see the trigger thread), which dives more deep into the electronics of the scope... anyway, challenges ahead makes the mind grow!!

Good day all, or for some good morning.

Im Honken and i live and work in Bangkok Thailand, moved here from Sweden almost 2 years ago.
I have always been interested in electronics, due to my uncle who used to work for Ericsson, and got me like a breadboard radio kit when i was young.

I´m no expert, I´m starting over some scratch, and i have a few ideas i want to do, i will most likely ask a lot of questions, so don´t be mad or upset if you find me slow.

Also looking for learning to program PIC chips and so on.

One thing i can help with, is computer related questions, mostly Linux and BSD, thou this is not what I´m here for, but i will share my knowlege if needed.

Have a few hobbies on the side, but this is a new one now (again).
I did buy a soldering gun (they call it here) yesterday, 160THB, so its a good price i guess :)

Cheers
Honken

Hi Honken, and welcome to the forum.

I'm rather new to the forum as well (just a month or so) and live in Thailand (for 12yrs) as well. Solder irons are cheap here, but don't expect to much of it. I'm going through my 5th or so... Very low quality.

Anyway, many happy hours with your electronics...:D

Sweet, thanks.

Btw, perhaps you can tell me of good places to buy breadboard, PIC:s and leds and stuff like that?
If you been here a while, you must have your special places? :)

Only found one place, but they dont return emails (perhaps because i wrote to them in english) :)
http://www.wt.co.th/ <-- only one i know right now.

Cheers

Hi Honken,

The place to be, for everything electronic, is Baan Moh, a couple of soi's stuffed with electronic shops (bangkok, opposite old siam).
I live 40km westward from bkk. Usually i go to a small electronic shop on petchakasem rd. to avoid a visit to bkk. i can also order parts with him. takes a couple of days.

Try thailand.rs-online.com and www.tarad.com for online purchases.

good luck!
Terence

Hello from Canada!
I am trying to learn and teach myself. I am a mechanic and find electronics exciting. Hoping to teach myself a few things and learn a few things from others on here.
