Hi,
Anyone know of a circuit design or kit that could be used to generate
eerie sounds like howling wind, rain, thunder, etc, doesn't have to be
great quality
e-mail to shaun at paradisii dot co dot uk or respond here :)
Cheers

Get one of the low-cost DSP evaluation kits produced by Analog Devices or TI
($100 or so). You'll have to learn how to program the effects you want, of
course. Quality will be adequate with a 16-bit fixed-point DSP.

You could do worse than try the Velleman K8030 Electronic Record/Playback
Module. It's based on a WinBond/ISD sound chip, has up to 20 seconds of record
time that can be split up into 5 different messages of 4 seconds apiece with an
optional rotary switch, and is rated at difficultyt level 3 (halfway between
beginner and advanced kit level). It's straightforward, and does what you
want. It's also available from many vendors.

For questions of this type, try sci.electronics.basic. Thanks.

Why buy anything? I'll bet many of these type sounds already exists
as .wav files to play through your PC. I know I've heard thunder and rain
..wavs....... You could also find toilets flushing and the ever popoular "I'm
looking at porn over hear" to be played remotely through a co-workers
computer:)
