Anyone know what this element is?
It is inside Rode NT3 condenser microphone, connected serial in line for powering the microphone.
It does not response as diode, resistor,.. it does not response at all!?
I also failed to find circuit of microphone, ... out of ideas.
Please help!

Hi Antonio333,

It' s probaly an inductor (looks as low R with a multimeter).

I agree, it looks like it. But it doesn`t show anything:(
Any idea for equivalent replacement??
Why I can`t find an element like that with datasheet? At least picture of it?

What kind of readings did you get when you tested the component?

I tested it with multimeter but didn`t get any readings at all.
Over range.
Like a "stone".

Someone is going to have to trace out that circuit and figure out what the component is likely to be...

For that we're going to need shots of the entire board, top and bottom.

Actually, looking at it again, I'd say it's a resistor. And one of the terminations has been ripped off. This may have happened with shock (if it was dropped) or even stress from the board being bent etc.

I don't suppose it has any markings on the other side does it?

Pure white on the othes side, unfortunately.
I also think it's a resistor, but what is its value and why is it "dead"??

I hope someone will figure out from those pictures what could this be.

Could I ask what wires (if any?) were connected to it? Also what if anything was it soldered to?

I keep thinking of capacitor, ribbon and electret mics. Of the three I'm suspicious it could be the electret element of an electret condenser microphone? That looks like a small piece of white nylon 6,6. It's job really is just have a permanent static charge.

Does any of this look familiar?

Finally, this article gives a pretty good description of electret mics and it does sound like it could be the electret material possibly.

You also might try contacting the company that made it and see if they will direct you to and/or give you a schematic
