Hello Electronic Guru's,

Hoping you guys can help me out. I bought a vacuum in the US, specs 120V 60hz 12A, but where I am living the voltage is 220 and 50hz. I ended up buying a converter JEC model VC-823 which comes with no instructions. The box only says that the maximum is 500W. Can someone please let me know if this converter will be ok to power my vacuum. Thanks guys.:)

Yikes, that's a 22kg two-way transformer, it must have cost a fortune..!
Anyway, the power/current formula is: W=V*A, so the vacuum draws 120V*12A=1440W. That's almost three times the transformer rating so you definitely can't use it..
What you want is a much smaller, lighter, & cheaper triac regulator/converter rated for motor/inductive use.
Use the transformer for supplying the stereo system which I hope you also bought.
