I have about 400 4' x 6' lightly tinted thermal panes that came with the
property when i purchased it. I plan to sell as many as I can but
anticipate having many left over.

Would these panels have any use as part of a homemade solar hot water
heating panel if the tinted side faced away from the sun?

Jim's comments:
What do you mean by thermal pane? Are these dual layers of glass
with an intervening space filled with gas used for insulation to reduce
heat transfer between the outside and the inside of a building, or
perhaps is the tinted side is a special emissifity coating to reject
heat. In either case this glass is valuable and you should be careful
as to the price you sell for. If it is dual pane, it will destroy any
gas put into the space between the panes if you attempt to cut it to fit
something. It would be best use it at its current dimensions. But yes,
it would make an excellent solar hot water heater (for the whole
neighborhood considering how much you have). You have 9600 sq. ft. of
it and most home solar hot water systems around here won't use much more
than 200 sq. ft. of collector unless they are heating a swimming pool.

They are dual layers of glass, they are from a commercial building
project that didn't get completed. If anyone is interested I will sell a
panel for $75 Canadian, $55 if you buy more than 9.
