This is getting ridiculous

Interesting stuff. Yea, owners hate all the clipping that is
required. And that requirement doesn't really encourage one to play
for learning purposes. We found we could image spouse Carol's ovarian
cyst quite well, but she's thin and that thing was huge. A cat heart
is a different thing entirely :).

Mm, but Home Depot reflects the fact that a large number of people
doing that kind of home improvement work professionally are
Spanish-speaking.

If Digi-Key's catalog went bilingual, I'd expect it to be in Hindi and
Chinese.

You've already got most of the big ones- English, German, Japanese and
Korean. English should be fine for India, if it's practical to ship
there (in the past anyway, Indian import regulations and duties have
been highly protectionist). I imagine Chinese (either simplified for
the mainland or traditional for Taiwan/HK) will be the next big one.

German? Really? All I hear from people over there is that it isn't so
easy to order stuff from the US (I never had a problem though when in
Europe). They use Farnell or Glyn a lot, plus lots of other places and
then there are those hobby suppliers that sometimes have a larger
selection than ours do.

Hello Steve,

... A cat heart is a different thing entirely :).

That's where Doppler comes in. I have been with cardiologists who'd
strap on some old headphones with frayed cables and all, shunning all of
this new-fangled FFT and color flow stuff. Then they'd listen a few
minutes and "yup, it's the mitral valve". Sure enough, it was the mitral
valve.

Oh well, must have a play with colour doppler some day, maybe the
hospital will feel the need to dump some multi-K kit cheap again
sometime soon. I hear what you say. Listen to a lot of murmurs by
ear and you learn to conclude "yup, it's a murmur" :).

Works with machinery, too. Once I told my father that the engine on his
car sounded like a valve was going to lala-land. Since it was still
under warranty he went to the dealer. They were skeptical. "How could a
kid say that?" Then the old man who ran the repair shop came and
listened. Wrinkles on his forehead. They took it apart and out came the
3rd cylinder exhaust valve with a large V-shaped gash in it.

Hello Joel,

I've heard trans-it-or from non-native English speakers...
And 'trainsister' from native English speakers. At least they had grits
with their coffee in the morning.

No, not "really". The german DK catalogue is completely unusable because
it is the English version run through an automatic translator. No
kidding.
All I hear from people over there is that it isn't so
easy to order stuff from the US (I never had a problem though when in

It's more expensive and takes a lot longer than
RS/Farnell/Schuricht/Spoerle... If you have time and cash to spare it's
just as easy as anything else (but then, what isn't).

There is 1 product that DK carries that no other (European) supplier
has: CCFLs. Drives me mad, especially at the price tag...
