Ok... I am beginning to think that all telecom distributors have a basic
problem with the concept of customer service.

Everybody knows my opinion of Greybar... no need to reitterate all of that
old garbage.

Recently I had a customer spec. a brand of Cat5e cabling hardware that I do
not stock. No problem I figured, I'ld call a couple of my distributors and
get what I need. The first one I called said, yeah sure no problem. I see
you have net terms we will get it sent out to you right away. I called back
a couple hours later to add a coupel items to the order only to be told that
my order could not be shipped, but if I would be willing to fill out a new
credit application I could get it released as soon as the application
cleared credit. Gah! Ok, cancelt he order and send me a copy of your
credit ap. I need this stuff right away and I can't wait for the stuff I
need. Maybe next time.

The I called distributor number two. I was very specific about the products
I needed and that they needed to be in stock or if there was any problem
with that I needed to know. I got a call back (They atleast called me back)
the next day telling me that my stuff would be shipping from all over the
country and some of it would not ship until the following day. Grrrrr!!!!
Ok, fine. I called the customer and let them know their job would be
delayed.

Day three. Stuff from the order from distributor number one starts showing
up. The guys who wouldn't release my order until I sent them a new credit
application. The order I specifically cancelled.

Day four. Stuf starts to dribble in from distributor number two.

Week two... The last of the stuff from distributor number two finally
arrives seven (nine days later) working days after the original order date.
Cool. I am off to run some wire. THEY INCLUDED THE WRONG PARTS. I had to
rob stuff from the order from distributor number one in order to complet the
job. Now I have double parts and a ton of left over parts I will probably
never use thanks t the incompetance if multiple telecom distributors.

Sure I have some distribution service problems with all distributors, but
telecome distributors to be universal in their incompetance.

Bob, you also know how I feel about Graybar. I order ALL my wire from
MidSouth Wire and Cable, and have been for about 10 years. Great customer
service!
Give them a call on the next go round. 800-843-6036
They're in NC, but they ship Nationwide, and usually have everything in
stock.

I wasn't talking about Graybar. I know better than to waste the time to
call them. If everybody else on the planet is out of stock I might go to
Graybar and pick it out myself. No way would I let them ship it to me as it
would not be in-stock, be the worng item, be sent over to will call instead
of shipped, not be manufacturerd yet, etc etc etc etc....
