Strange False Alarm DSC 1555MX?

I am the end user of a DSC 1555MX system. I had it installed, though I
personally checked all the programing and tweaked a couple of minor things.

Last nite, at 1:20 AM, while sleeping, the alarm went off. I silenced the
bell with the code. There was no memory indication for the alarm! "*3"
showed nothing! No trouble indications either.

At first I thought it could be the bell output of the TLM from a dead phone
line, but it was turned off in the programming.

Has anyone heard of a false alarm with no memory or trouble indication?
Does a keypad panic press show a memory?

Thanks,

Todd K.

Update: A keypad panic alarm shows no memory on this panel. So what
could cause a phantom keypad panic alarm? More info: I ran the clothes
washer and dryer shortly after arming the system. Could it have been an
AC voltage spike following the shut down of the electric dryer?

If it has wireless turn on the rf jam.

Wrong, turn OFF the rf jam OR set it up for a long time delay of
multiple hours before warning otherwise it give false alarms..

Damn Frank, at first I thought you were getting creamy with jpshull.
Forced me to do a Google to find out what he did to you. Then I
noticed Paul's little attempt at getting around kill filters in your
quoted line. For those of us who don't see Paul's posts it looked
like you attacked jpshull.

:)

I only filter "RFI" for emails. People still respond to him so I figure
filtering him in the Newsgroup is a waste of time (I don't filter anyone)... It
also avoids the confusion you experienced...

As have I. My point being that "RFI" only repeats what he sees in this group
(and others in which he "participates"). He has *NO* first-hand experience with
any of the products professionals use...

I agree ! It seems tampers where the wireless receiver loses touch with any
wireless zones can create an alarm condition (which in my case happened at
3:00 AM). However, I ended up replacing most everything before I solved the
problem (still REALLY don't know what it was because I turned off most
everything and it still continued to happen.....makes for a very unhappy
client.....)

That's why you have the LCD keypad, the Event History is your friend.

Yes, or in my case, the remote dial in to the event log. If it wasn't for
that, I wouldn't have had a clue what actually happened.....(PC5132 loss..).
Nevertheless, just one more reason I have pretty much abandoned DSC for all
new installs.....(there's just no forgiveness in my soul.....:)))

So it looks like the consensus is to "Disable RF Jam Detect"? That would
work fine for me because I also have problems (trouble light/beeps) when
I operate my wireless 433MHz BBQ thermometer.

As far as the event log, I wish I knew more about my options (or they
would have informed me) when I bought the system from the installer. I
would have definetly upgraded to the LCD keypad.

Overall, I was not impressed with this installer, and I used them 10
years ago for my first house and they were fine. Go figure.

Thanks for your feedback,

Issue Resolved!

I finally got around to installing DLS 1.3 software and building a long
PCLINK cable to go from the panel to my desktop. Event Buffer showed
"PC5132 Tamper". I disabled RF Jam Detect in Section 804/90/7. I
shouldnt have this problem again. Thanks for all your suggestions.
