I have an old Panasonic DVD-CV50 dvd player I would like to adjust.
In its shop manual, it refers to a test disk DVDT-S15 or DVDT-S01 to be
used to adjust the pickup tilt. Can I download the disk or find it for
cheap? Do I need it? If not, what can I do instead?

A test disc for any optical media player (LD, DVD, CD) is
definitely not something you can just download and burn to blank media.

Test discs are made to exacting mechanical standards, and are
intended to be nothing less than a calibration reference for exactly the
kind of adjustments you're describing. The degree of precision with
which they are made is not something that you will find duplicated in
off-the-shelf media.

You can order the DVDT-S15 test disc directly from Panasonic on
1800-833-9626. I just got off the line with them, and it is in stock at
$97.01 Ea.

Happy hunting.
