Hello,

Netmedia set a $30 1.3" x 0.9" RS-232 to Internet server that connects to
RS-232 at speeds up to 115.2 kbaud. The development kits costs $100 .
Does anyone know of a low cost Internet server that will interface to video
and audio (L and R channels) ?

Thank you,

Google for 'webcam'. I've seen some self-contained units with a camera
and web server in one unit. Most supported only freeze frames, but there
are some that do streaming video and may be available separate from the
camera.

I know these systems must be easy to set up because, according to my
e-mail, about every other sorority's shower is equipped with one. Which
can be accessed in return for my credit card number. :-|

Microsoft media encoder (free) can act as a server for video and
audio. Some webcams can do audio as well as video. I've got a
site below that uses ivista that has video and audio.

I'm guessing that the OP wants an inexpensive hardware/embedded app type
solution. I'm guessing here, but in addition to the 'free' media
encoder, one would have to invest in the PC and OS.

You can use Linux as an OS - free. So you need just a PC.

Thats right, I should have specified small hardware encoder, independent of a
PC. However the answers have been interesting, and perhaps I will
temporarily go the PC + video-in adaptor route. I have an X10 color camera
which outputs video, and L/R audio.
