5$ for a surge protector is a good price at first.....

That's making a hell of an asumption, ain't it. It was on a quality ups,
though i can't remember the brand. It blew the ups, and the comnputer
through the phone line.

I don't really want to have to leave the computer running all the time just
to recieve faxes anyway, but thanks for the suggestion

Take back Usenet <--> http://improve-usenet.org

I took a look at ringcentral.com and over the last week have sent two emails
to ring central regarding porting my existing fax number and have not
received an answer. I sent the same question to myfax.com and they replied
promptly. I know both companies are able to port some existing numbers, but
I wanted to be sure they could port my specific number. I also realise that
I can forward my existing number, but I would prefer porting. I would be
reluctant to do business with a company that doesn't appear to respond to
potential customers. Have you ever needed to contact them for support and
were they responsive?

That's strange. I've never had a problem with support. I've contacted them
via phone several times and got instant support. In fact, when I first signed
up they contacted me proactively twice to ask if everything was satisfactory.

I suggest you use the "ring me" on the website and they will call you
immediately, or the live chat, or call them. Also, the forum is helpful as it
is read by users and staff. http://forum.ringcentral.com/

2.5 month response time to a potential customer isn't exactly ideal. :)

The service itself works - if that's any consolation.
