How to find out the height and speed of the RC planes?

tennis court and the park. We were playing tennis and the visibility was no
good,
a kid put some LEDs on his plane and intend to fly it like a Blackwidow, but
it was
interfered by our tennis court lightning. There are trees along the tennis
court, but
there is a 5 meter openning at this exit. I am poised to design my robot
that will
defend this 5Width*10Height meter openning. Any intruding planes will be
shot
down with glue filled watergun to disable the blade and cotton wires to drag
it to
the ground.

Any tricks to calculate the height, velocity and direction of a flying
vehicle with a
single 2MP image sensor and some computing devices?

It's lucky you don't know how to achieve this. If anyone told you how to do
it, it's also lucky that you would not understand them.

Okay, so now we're well and truly off with the cuckoos......

If you are really worried about this (I can see it could be a problem),
ask your council to erect some netting to prevent the planes getting
through.

** Under the "Air Navigation Orders", section 95.21, part 4.1

A (untethered) model aircraft shall not be flown:

(a) unless visibility permits continuous visual contact by then operator
with the aircraft or

(b) in cloud

Part 4.2:

A model aircraft shall not be flown.

(c) within 30 metres horizontally or at any height over any group of people
or occupied building;

(d) at a height exceeding 300 feet above terrain unless the flight takes
place within the confines of a ( Department of Aviation approved) model
aircraft flying area.

I very much doubt that any council has given permission for such an
*illegal* activity as the idiot OP alleges.

Firstly, you're an idiot... what you suggest sounds dangerous, illegal and
could put you behind bars - seriously

However, on the science side of things... if you wanted to calculate speed,
direction and height, you'd need a radar of some sort.

Directions can be determined by which direction your antenna is pointing
when it gets a maximum signal strength from the ping you send out to the
target.

Speed can be calculated with the Doppler shift of the signal.

Height can be calculated by determining the angle and distance of the target
from your radar source (height = distance * sine (angle) )

To fire your projectile, you'll need to predict the next position of the
target after you added in your delays for your projectile travel time.

Radar is seriously difficult sh!t and not for the feint hearted... Even
million dollar anti-missile systems don't get it right all the time -
remember the PATRIOT missiles used in the first Iraq war? - they still
missed.

My suggestion is that you either ignore it or sell your t/house.

Whatever you do, you're going to put a flying object out of control and
cause serious harm/damage to someone/thing.

When I first bought my townhouse, I thought the huge park behind was
good.

A device installed on my kid's 4wheeler, which contains a digcam censor,
a powerful uP with some field programmable gate array chips, an air rifle
which can shoot a plastic bullet 200 meters, plus some sensors yet to find
out. My electronics will detect the speed, direction and height of the
plane, determine the firing angle and time of my rifle and fire.

What are the algorithms to calculate the speed, direction and height of the
plane?

Any new ideas are also welcome.

**** Where are you located,I'm sure the local police will be VERY interested
in your illegal rifle!!

Or are you just an insignificant troll?

My air defence system is on a fixed platform now, with campass mounted on
the rotating
camera to see its direction.

I was aware that from the shape of the plane I can google and identify the
model, from the
model I can find out the dimension, and together with focal length I can
calculate the distance
from the camera. With the angle and orientation of my camera, I can
calculate the angel of the
plane with respect to the ground, and the direction it flies, plus the
height.

Is this a good plan?

Have you actually ever posted anything constructive?
With some of your stupid snide remarks I wonder if you even read the

RC plane fans. Tens of noisy planes hover arround the area every weekend.

Now for a mental exercise, I have decided to design a RCPlaneHunter to
bring them down or destroy them in the sky.

First idea:

A device installed on my kid's 4wheeler, which contains a digcam censor,

Take'em on in the air!

A few choice modifications and an extra button or two on your remote
control might be fun. One of these switch covers would be nice:

All you soft cocks who keep sniping at Phil are pathetic.

In the short time I have been reading this ng he has probably posted
more good advice than most, certainly more than you whining little
grovellers.

I have always wondered what inspired Phil's rants, and while not knowing
the dude, I reckon it is his observation of pretence.

Always directed at those who need to be on a pedestal, viewing the
minions from above. Wankers, losers, pretenders. In short, the people
who really end up causing the most grief in the world. A pox on you all.

One thing for sure. I get no laughs from any you. With Phil, half the
time I am chuckling before I read his posts.

And if you are really so intelligent, why do you keep on baiting him???

Get a life...
