not to be confused with similar sounding model name, honda EU30iS was tested today in
couple homes in S.Florida with a Trane XL19i 2-stage, 2-compressor heat pump system

the 2nd compressor was taken offline at the thermo by changing system type to plain
Heat Pump as opposed to 2-Stage Heat Pump

the honda EU30iS started and runs easily the smaller 1.5 ton compressor and consumes
about 50% of the available power so there is enough left to power a lamp or two and
refrigerator

while any standard 5kw gen would do just fine, this is the model tested

After barely surviving Katrina last year, I would strongly recommend
converting yours to run on Natural Gas. Obtaining gasoline was almost
impossible down here. It was a full time chore for those with
generators having family and friends driving 100+ miles or more to
fill up their gasoline containers. Although we lost EVERYTHING else,
the gas supply kept right on ticking..... I've never know the NG
supply to fail in any hurricane scenario that I or my family before me
can remember, and we have been through them all. You will have to
derate the Honda maybe 20% running on NG, but the engine will love you
for it.
