Hex Driver vs. Line Driver

Is there a difference between the two? I'm looking at a 74LVC07A and a SN74LVC1G07-EP. I'm assuming they have similar functionality and the manufacturer simply has different naming convention. Is it a hex buffer because there are 6 I/O's?

These are chips with comparable function. The difference being that the SN74LVC1G07-EP contains a single gate while the 74LVC07A contains 6 gates in one package.

The single gate is convenient if you need just one gate and you do not have the PCB real estate for the larger IC.
The hex package is convenient if you need up to 6 gates and want to save money (compared to multiple single gate ICs).
