What is the difference between the forums and news groups?

I want to get some advice about my career and I am not sure where to put the thread.

The forums is the main section for posting questions, so if you wanted electronics career advice then your other thread is in the right place (https://www.electronicspoint.com/career-advice-sought-t215942.html). :)

The Newsgroup section is an archive of posts from a system called usenet/newsgroups. It is supposed to be a way for people that are interested in them to have web-access to read posts. Any questions should really be posted in the main "forum" sections.

What if there is a particular newsgroup topic that I want to respond to... if I respond there, will the newsgroup members see that response?

Hi David - yes, it should be put in a queue back to the newsgroup :)
