Donate Frequent Flyer Miles to Our Troops

Did you know that you can donate some of your frequent flyer miles to
benefit our troops getting to their homes from Iraq?

The military generally flies a soldier only back to his base. Your
frequent flyer miles can get them the rest of the way home....

http://www.heromiles.org/

I think most of the airlines are now participating.

Don't they get paid, then? Seems a pretty lousy sort of deal to me.

Paid? Who? Airlines? Troops?

My understanding is that the airlines will honor the miles as if it
were you personally using them.

I donated all my accrued AA mileage that I hadn't used, about 5000
miles. I fly so little anymore that my other accounts didn't have
piddling in them.

Gee, that's great, but did you ever think about the possiblity that not
everyone here is from the states, and not everyone here exactly AGREES with
what the states is doing??

Military will get them back to their duty station, the donated miles get
home and back from there.

Helping get soldiers home to see their families is good thing, and does not
reflect taking sides in the conflict or otherwise agreeing with the
conflict.

Do you think we really care what YOU think? Have you ever served in
the military, and couldn't afford a round trip ticket to visit your
family? I have been in that position. Almost $2,000 to fly from
Fairbanks AK to Cincinnati and back, and that was in the '70s. if you
don't like what is going on in Iraq, fly over and help the snipers dig
holes to hide in. If you're lucky, you might get it deep enough for your
grave before they blow your head off.

Hehe, I guess that, and that sir, is the reason much of the world thinks
of the States as they do. TTYL

Hmm, ok, consider this: what about Sadam's former soldiers? Do they
deserve the same?

HEHEHE, my my, it's amazing how quickly irrational behaviour shows up in
the face of some facts.

This is NOT the NG to discuss these issues, although miki, or whatever his
alias is now, will bark back that any NG is free to discuss anything.

Not really, there are lots of people in the world
that need to have their arses kicked. I'd have to
post probably 25-30 times to list them all. Yes,
I am from the USA, but I only speak for myself.
The rest of the world can speak for themselves.

And which NG would that be? You may not have noticed
that this particular thread is multiply cross-posted.

One hundred and eighty billion dollars and counting. I think I've paid my
share already.

Well, I live in the US and I'm ashamed. Spend trillions
of dollars and lives satisfying some sick personal
vendetta. Shudder!

And of course, the "Department of Homeland Security,"
or whatever in Hell it's called. I HATE the country
being the biggest perpretrator of war in the history
of life, (well, at least in dollaras spent and sheer
killing power) albeit it's a very comfortable cage
for me. I can sit here and bitch about the Government,
and so far they haven't sent anybody after me. The IRS
confiscated my bank account once, but that's not
political ;-)

But I wonder how many Americans will admit that the
antics of the US government make it rightly the butt of
a lot of bitching?

Certainly none of the blindered Dubya fans, that's for
sure. He can do no wrong, you know. I can't understand
why those nasty French don't like him. They must be
savages. Yeah, that's it.

It's amazing the number of people who would rather be
right than happy. :)

Cheers!

Well, before you sign up, do they give you any kind of indication
what you might be in for? Anybody who signs up for a 2-year hitch
and then whines and snivels because they can't fly back to Mommy's
lap on a moments notice doesn't deserve to have been sent on a road
trip at taxpayer expense in the first place.

Peace on Drugs!
