Sir bgk62 . . . . .

The supplied reference is for parts FAR more bucolic than your parts supplied numbers.

The diodes are apparently for AC line frequency rectification of a power supply or power device which is using those parts.

The RCA 39804 relates to an axial leaded rectifier akin to an industry standard 1N5802 with its specificatiions
of a PRV of 200V and a current spec of 3A.

The RCA 4208 relates to a heavy stud mounted rectifier with its PRV of 50V and one quite healthy 40A current spec.

The 38679 turns out to be an Unidentified Flying Diode . . . . . therefore . . . we probably need precise identification of the equipment , with its brand and model, in which these are being found used in, to see what needs are imposed upon the diode via its circuit design.

Thank you soo much edd,As far as the RCA38679 they look just like the 39804 small aluminum can axial with glass or plastic sealing one end ,these diodes are used in a vintage Swan Mark 2 hf amplifier,There are 3 38679 s in the rf deck unit .The rca39804 theirs 1 in the power supply and the schematic says that it is a .75 ampA thats all it says, will a 1n5404 work as a replacement for the rca39804? Thanks Edd for help 73s bgk62

Sir bgk62 . . . . .

I just verified their electrical functions on the SWAN schematic . . .

The 38679's could be replaced by 1N5404's if that is what you already have in stock.
That would be one step up in PIV rating and + 6x the current carrying capability.

I see two of them being used as a voltage doubler for creating 1st grid bias for your final .
Another, gets used as a back EMF suppression diode across the coil of a power relay that has 12VDC activating its coil.

The rca 39804 theirs 1 in the power supply and the schematic says that it is a .75 A thats all it says.

Yes, that is also where a 1N5404 could be used.

Wow Thank you soo much Edd,I searched for hours and couldn't find out hardly anything about those diodes I really appreciate the time you took to find the info I needed,This is the first time I have Upgraded a HF amp .and I want to make sure I do it rite and replace as many parts as I can while I have it opened up .Even parts that are probably not bad .mite be just weak ,given how old this amp is ,thanks again Edd and 73s from KL0MP

I used handfuls of RCA 2070's and their 750 ma current specs which were in a metal housing, which you don't even see anymore.
It looks like the round housing of an old germanium transistor but with 1 lead spot welded to the center of the closed end of the case.
The other lead had a glass frit seal around its centered and insulated lead.
