I have a DC blower motor ( 1.5 HP) in the furnace . Can any one
suggest how the circuitry is designed? Any refernces sources where I
can read about this?

What kind of furnace would use a 1.5hp DC blower motor? Are
you sure it's DC?

Maybe- if it's a VAV- variable air volume system requiring fan speed
control.

The thing you're looking for is called a DC Motor SCR drive. These are
commodity items, and are far better purchased than home-brewed. Not only that,
but you're generally dealing with rectified line voltage at high current, which
can ruin your day.

1) Look up "DC Motor" +"SCR Drive" on Google

2) Contact a distributor to purchase a solution.

Why would it use a DC motor, because the power supply
in virtually all homes is AC? Mine ( 130000 BTU) gas fired
furnace has an AC motor.

Look into the manufacturer's literature. If you do not have it
go to the web.

Yes , I have one installed -furnace(100,000 BTH) from HEIL of Carrier
Group.
AC motor driven furnaces still exist with pulleys and belt.( Boy. they
make a hell of a noise!) But these are being replaced in new designs
by very quiet DC motors whose speed can be varied depending on load
demands. All well known US compnaies manufacture them. My interest is
of course academic and have no intention of building one in my
basement!!

Nowadays you know manufacturers never print or let out the detail of
the circuitry deliberately as it appears there is a protect-each and
help-each other culture between them and the contractors whether it is
about a tape recorder, radio or even a simple solar circuitry !.

I thought somebody might have a quick info. Thanks for suggestions to
all of you.

Thanks for the suggestion.

if it's academics, books and manuals are dime a dozen on dc (or ac) motor
controls.
i would think customer service at mfr should be of help. motor controls are
open thing, as frequently they have to be incorpoated into other
ladder-logic.
if you don't want to go thr' the hassel, consult a teacher at local tech
school.
field current variation for speed control is one of it if i recall it right.

What's that!

Namaste, and Aloha from Hawaii -- the other Paradise,
"the" "other"? You mean there's only the two?

Awwwww.....

Yes, there are only two in this illusory world (Maayaa) -- as
far as I am concerned. The other is Varanasi where my other,
original residence is located.
