Hello,

I got a 5MW-rated wind turbine and I need to find what wind speed is needed to achieve the rated power output. At first I thought I would rearrange the "power out" formula (1/2*n*p*A*V^3) to find v, but it didn't work. What should I do?

Thanks :)

You have a 5MW wind turbine, you serious? They have 126m wing span. If you do then it's quite easy to work out available power, how you manage this power depends on your turbine. So it's this:

l=Blade Width in meters
v= Wind velocity in meters/second
p=Air Density in Kg/meters^3
Cp= Power density = 0.4
A=swept area of blade

Pav=(1/2)p*A*V^3*Cp

Bet your going to have a few Christmas lights this year then :)
