Hi all .
I have a voltage regulator AMS -1117 . I know that this component is so sensitive ( high temperature and etc. )
At first it work fine but suddenly it guess it may burnt - out. I have 16 board which have this regulator and work at the same time , so I just want know the reason of burning - out this regulator .
thanks a lot for taking the time .

The AMS-1117 regulator (which I actually have a number of...) is described here.

In general, this component (like any other) will fail if it is asked to dissipate too much heat.

This may be for any or any combination of the following factors:
  1. Input voltage is higher than expected
  2. current draw is higher than expected
  3. ambient temperature is higher than expected (unlikely to be a primary cause)
Where I use "expected" I am using it to mean values that were used to calculate (correctly) that the device would operate within spec.
