What max USB cable length did you get away with?

Hello,

Usually USB 2.0 is limited to 16ft. Did anybody get away with much more
than that? If so, was it reliable?

Data rate doesn't matter, as long as everything sent still gets there.

As far as I know 5 Meters ~ 16ft are the longest to fulfil the specs.
For greater distances you will need a repeater.
An example is on www.ebusinesscables.com/usb_repeater_cable.htm

Add a hub.
You can know get single chip 'active repeaters' (effectively a one port
hub), for USB2 (for a long time only USB1 versons were available).
'Pushing' the spec, is not a good way to get reliability.
