HI,

I am working with a Triac to control a 230V 60W incadancent bulb. The problem is that when the bulb fuses it take away the Triac as well. after a bit of a research I found out that it was due to short circuit. I tried adding a fuse to no avail. Is there any other method? any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks
SBC

When a bulb fuses it normally goes open circuit which can cause a large change in voltage across the triac in a very short time.
Look up triac snubber circuits. These are used to limit dv/dt across the triac.

Hi, Thanks for replying.
Yes they do go open circuit but the filament sometimes falls in such manner that they cause dead short circuit between L and N.
Thanks once again
