Hi,

I am trying to amplify the sound generated by timer 555 circuit with TDA2030A. But, the amplification is very less, hardly audible.

Please check the circuit below:

TDA2030A amplification circuit is taken from datasheet.

I didn't placed the capacitor (please check the capacitor outlined with red square) in the circuit because it was going to amplifier not a speaker. It was added in the original timer 555 circuit but there was a speaker in place of amplifier there.

Is this the reason of negligible amplification? Is some DC is passing to the amplifier?

The speaker I am using is 8 Ohm 5 watt. I know 9v is less for TDA2030A, But I am still expecting atleast 2-2.5 watt amplification.

I tried 8 ohm 0.5watt speaker but the sound level is the same.

please help me.

thanks

You will need a capacitor in your red square. Since it is feeding a high value resistor I guess 0.1μF (100nF) would be big enough. This will not affect the gain.

Measure the DC voltages on the TDA2030A and check the feedback resistors for the correct values,

You can connect your Volume Control Directly to Pin 3.
No Need for that Capacitor.

Not too Important, But C7 is usually Recommended to be a .01

Not sure you need R6 & R7.
Just Put R8 to Gnd.

You correctly copied the single supply circuit in the datasheet except the supply voltage is too low. Its minimum supply is plus and minus 6V that is 12V but you have one 9V battery that drops below 6V. Try the TDA2030A with two 9V batteries in series but power the 555 with only one of the 9V batteries.

hi,

none of the methods are working. One question: can it be because I am using trimmer preset in place of rotary potentiometer which is present in the circuitry of TDA2030A IC?

thanks

no, they are the same as long as it's the same value

show us a circuit of with the suggested modifications, power, capacitors etc

When it is powered up, measure the voltage between pins 5 and 3 of the TDA2030. What is it?
