I have a 1998 Japanese slot machine. The Tabuchi light board that controls the florescent bulb has a tan resistor with no color bands only the number 500 stamped on it. There is no continuity through it. The marking next to it stamped on the board is ICP 1. Is it a resistor and what size would replace this?

Could be a fuse - 500mA.

We'd need to see pictures of the part and it's placement in respect to other components to clarify this answer.

If it IS a fuse, it blew for a reason - yet to be determined......

Added a picture. The lever on the slot machine door was tripped without the door being closed. That's when the problem occurred …..

Either a fuse or an inductor. - either way there should be a conducting path through it. If it is an inductor (500μH - guessing) then fitting a fuse instead won't cause any problems. But DO fit a fuse (500mA) and not a shorting link, as it may be affording protection to the rest of the circuitry.

Pull Q1 and Q2 and test them for shorts. As kelly_eye said, there is likely some reason that 500 mA fuse blew.

Thank you for all your help.. I'm going to try a locate a 500mA fuse to solder in. Again, thank you for sharing your knowledge …..

That number fuse is followed by different letters HAT1L, MAT1L, MRT1L, NAT1L, NRT1L, VXL and MXL. I have no idea what they stand for nor can I find any information on them. Which would you suggest as my choice ? Thank you for your help

I find the following on the data sheet:
Capture.PNG
Since you would be buying small quantity, the coded quantity and packaging would be irrelevant. Lead length T1 seems to be standard and not always coded. The only thing of interest would be the 'L' and even that probably does not make any difference to you.
