I'm thinking I'd like to build a module for my synth that's capable of sub bass frequencies. If anyone has any reccomended reading I would much appreciate it, thanks.
What is a sub bass module? Is it a low frequency signal generator that feeds an amplifier or recorder? Is it an amplifier that can feed low frequencies to a speaker? Is it a sub-woofer speaker in an enclosure? Is it a powered sub-woofer speaker that has a built-in amplifier?
sorry, always think i'm not being too vague on here... a low frequency signal generator is what i want, and to be able to vary the tone. Will I also need a specific amplifier section for this? I was thinking an op amp as I'g guessing it will have to be a sinewave signal.
Its outputs are not sinewaves, they are sort-of squarewaves that sound like a low frequency buzzer
A sinewave creates a smooth tone, a squarewave makes an irritating noise.
Use a Wien Bridge oscillator with a Jfet for amplitude stability instead.
Thanks guys, I'll do some reading and get back to you if I reach any problems. Got my dual rail supply built now so am good to go. Building synthesiser modules has been a huge help in understanding my oscilloscope much better. For the first time i'm really appreciating it.
