I have a sony ps x 45 turntable. Problem:At the end of a record, the
arm travels back across half the record before the lift mechanism is
fully engaged, thereby scratching the second half of the record. The
lift seems to go partway, and then hesitate a moment, and then
complete its upward travel to lift the arm completely off the record.
Turntable does not get a lot of use. Is this a lubrication issue if I
take it apart? Does anyone have a manual for this unit?
Thanks, and Happy New year.

Your TT needs mechanical work. It must be unassembled to see exactly the
fault.
