Sony Trinitron Problem Remembering Channels!!!

My Sony Trinitron 9" TV has served me well for 6 years. It's still
going strong with vibrant colors and nice speaker.

PROBLEM:
But, it can't Add or Subtract channels anymore. It's like the memory
for the channels is stuck when I last set it a couple years ago.

I can manually Enter channels and switch between cable and TV channels
but the remote never remembers channels that I set/subtract or
autoset.

DETAILS:
It's been this way for over a year but it's starting to annoy me
because I have to manually enter some channels (that aren't in memory)
and push Enter. Or, I have to use a VCR to scan through channels
quickly.

I try Autoscanning/Autosetting for channels and it seems to scan
through channels but when it finishes scanning, it doesn't remember
any of the new channels. When I add or subtract channels, I see the
channel being added or subtracted (I see the green + and - on screen).
But, when I push the channel up button to look at the saved channels,
nothing changed.

QUESTIONS:
Do Sony Trinitron TV's have a battery inside to save channels? Or does
it have memory chips? Can I fix it cheaply with replacement parts?

Or are channels saved in my remote? Is my remote's memory busted? My
remote seems fine in that all the buttons work. But I did drop it a
couple times onto the hardwood. But, the buttons all work. Just that
my TV refuses to memorize channels or erase channels. I am confused.

BTW, Sony still makes similar 9" Trinitron TVs (same dimension and
tube). The buttons on the TV just changed places a bit.

Model and chassis number will probably produce better results and much more
pertinent info.
