Hi everyone.:)

My latest project includes detecting whether the person is seated or not(in automobiles). This can be done by using a pressure sensor or just by a micro switch.

Suppose i'll keep something heavy on the seat. Then the sensor detects it as a true condition and gives the output. But actually no one(Human being) is seated .
As a solution to this problem i need to detect the presence of human along with the weight .

This can be done by using image processing methods but i don't want to complicate my project . Is there any other sensor or a way which would help me in detecting the presence of human?

You can use proximity sensors.

Thanks for your reply sir.
Proximity sensors detects the presence of near by objects without physical contact. It detects both living and non-living things. So how can that be used to differentiate Humans from a object.
What's your opinion about it sir ?

Maybe an infrared sensor? to determine if the body is giving off some kind of heat source? might be useless on a hot day though lol, then you'd need to look for a cooler heat source.

Yes sir. That's a good option but again it won't work in hot day.
Anyway i'll go through it once.

Yes sir. This might work but where to place the sensor?
I have attached the sketch . Would you suggest me the best position?:)

Position1 looks good to me. you might need several to account for taller/shorter people.

Thank you sir. I too think position 1 is the best one.
It's impossible to place a sensor on a gear box so i think its better if it is placed in the door(Exact opposite to position 1). :)
Yes. i need to place at-least 3 sensors in a line cause i need to detect occupants irrespective of their age (It may be a child or an adult).

Oh, and I think Steve was referring to a paad detector.
