Dear members,
I have completed a HF 13.56 based RFId reader design and achieved a
reading range about 25 cm. This was for one of the applicatioins we
had earlier.

Now we have got a request for a solution to warehouse item tracking.
In this case its good to have 3-5 meter reading range RFID system.
I think the best option is to go for UHF RFID system.

Could you please let me know about your idea on this?

At the same time could you please let me know some manufacturers and
part numbers of the most used UHF RFID reader ICs in the market.

Thank you.

Best regards,

Not necessarily. A 13.56MHz system can achieve at least 1m
with an antenna with 1m diameter. When there is some
external power available on the tag side, eg a battery,
the reach can be many more meters.

The problem of the RFID stuff is always how to power
the tag. The tag usually is some sort of state machine
in CMOS technology.

Don't waste a lot of time trying to design your own. SAVI
Technologies specializes in inventory/pallet tracking RFIDs with
ranges in tens of feet.
