Rebuilding laptop battery

Dear all,

I have a IBM thinkpad A22m, and 2 pieces of battery. I recently replaced
the cells inside one of the battery, with some higher capacity cells
(2200mA/cell). However, I discovered that the "NEW" battery is not
reporting the correct information in the battery management program, due to
the "hrad coded" information on the circuit board insode the battery.

My question is :

1. Is there any program I can "reset" or "reprogram" the battery
information, such as correct design capacity, date fo first use, and also
the cycling counter?

2. Do I need any special equipment/device to do the above?

3. Seems to me that my old cells are doing fine when they are removed from
the battery case, does it means that the laptop/battery company
"intentionally" controls the life of the battery? As I think they are making
good profit from selling these type of supplies.

Many thanks for anyone providing help.

Rgds.
