Question about pickit1 evaluation board

Pickit1 has 8 red leds which are controlled by
RA1/2/4/5. I was just wondering if there is any
special reason why the leds are arranged in the
way they are?

The board layout was probably the dictating factor. The OS author just made
minor changes
to reflect the physical orientation.
