Hi I was wondering if anyone can help me with a project I am having problems with. I have had built a telephone ringing system with mp3 player and remote Relay and some delay timers .the system allows me to remotely make a telephone ring and then when I lift the receiver the ringer stops and a message is played from the mp3 player. The problem I am having is with a relay that for some reason sometimes it makes the phone ring like a normal phone is meant to or it can do a constant ring and when the receiver is lifted I get interference. The whole system is run from a 12V Battery. hope this makes sense if you need any more info or photos please feel free to ask Thank you

Hello and welcome to E.P. Do you have any information on the circuit that is used. Do you have a circuit diagram we can see and maybe some nice pictures of the unit. It's hard to tell just from a description of a fault.
Thanks
Adam

Ah it might be because you haven't sent enough messages yet. Also check the file size.

Thanks

use a graphics program like Irfanview to resize and compress the image

load your image into it and resize it down to 1024 x 768
then save as it with 60 - 70 quality setting

the system allows me to remotely make a telephone ring...
I take it you are holding the 'remote' device to activate the phone ringer system yourself?

....it makes the phone ring like a normal phone is meant to or it can do a constant ring...
I take it that the 'constant ring' is NOT correct and that a normal ring is required at all times?

.....and when the receiver is lifted I get interference.
What form does the interference take? Buzz? Hum? Hiss? etc?

Unfortunately the pictures aren't, as the saying goes, worth a 1,000 words. In this case they might amount to around 4 viz-a-viz........"Jeez, what a mess". :D

We would really need to see, clearly, what wire goes from point (a) to point (b) etc. The cable-tied bundle doesn't help either. Any way you can separate the modules so we can see the path of the individual wires? Similarly, any more detail on the timer relays at the top?

The pictures do not help to discern much. The little information I can tell is

There has to be somewhere a ´ĺoop' current sense relay implemented. That must deenergize the ring generator (ringen) [PowerDsine] module or its 70VAC output will likely destroy earphone and something else as the high voltage AC gets into the receiving end and into the MP3 audio output stage. That can be the 20Hz 'interference' you hear.

The proper one---> http://www.ic72.com/pdf_file/m/25990.pdf

The ring generator (ringen) has to be driven by a cadence timer of choice, or constant if preferred. But the current relay linked must deenergize it and terminate the cadence timer when the handset is lifted off-hook, and make the MP3 'play'

If you can instead of pictures, post a block diagram sketch, will be more helpful. I could do a block diagram 'my way' but will not match to fix yours.

this is all I have accept it does not show timers or black 4 pin relay in photo the guy who built it said he needed them added after he made diagram so I got a dring dring snd the relay was something of do with the mp3 player thank you received_10214305781142701.jpeg 20170830_201940_resized.jpg

It does has some meaning... The black wire to 'ringen' must be disconnected by 'relay2' 'when rl1' engages. Could be done with a SPDT relay, but, hey, there is maaany ways to do it.
I have no idea why 'in1' in the relay unit is hooked to audio, if it is supplying '-12V' or what to '5'

The 'manual' pusbutton forces ringeneration if 'rl1' is on, the same relay that enables the audio player. Not a good idea if the player is active, and the handset is off-hook. Make sure it is open, not faulty stuck 'on'.

I see no way to sense the 'loop current' (handset being picked up) Do you think it is 'in1' ?

"-12V" cannot be minus 12Volt. Otherwise the ringen and a lot more would get 24 V. I take it as "the negative of +12V"

To fix anything, you and we have to know how it works. There is other things hiding from us in the sketched blocks. Perhaps someone else can see light ?

Have you confirmed the MP3 audio source alone is good with headphones plugged to it ?
