THERE we go! Damn!

Finally something really important online.

This book (I have the original) and the periodical it came from (The
Lightning Empiricist) did more than anything else in the US to introduce
people to the novel concept of the "operational amplifier" and to popularize
its use beyond analog(ue) computers. It's amazing to see it online finally.
(Some other Philbrick original literature in electronic form has been
circulating privately recently after sale on ebay but not yet available
online.)

I have not yet browsed this copy but I hope it includes the photo of two op
amps, a mature glittering vacuum-tube product (USA-3 I think) and an early
monolithic or hybrid upstart, in a TO-8 can. The photo appeared in the 1965
edition captioned "Dignity and Impudence." (Alluding, obviously, to the
picture of two dogs by Sir Edwin Landseer, one of the most famous, and most
derided, paintings in history.)

Thank you, Analog Devices!
